The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox - Book Review

Hi bookworms! It's been a while, but this holiday season has been so busy! It snuck up on me so fast! Today's book review is a fun one. It's on The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox. I was looking for a cute, holiday read and this was pretty cute! It's basically like reading a Hallmark movie. I'd rather watch them than read them, but this was still an enjoyable read. Admittedly, it did take a little while for me to become fully invested but once that happened, I was hooked! Specifically speaking, I was hooked on the romance! I'm such a sap when it comes to romance and there was plenty to go around in this book! Sure it was cheesier than three-cheese pizza (is that statement cheesy in itself?), but I'm a sucker for that. Let's jump into the synopsis!

The Holiday Swap is about two twin sisters, Charlie and Cass, who decide to swap lives with each other when Charlie suffers a head injury on set of her job. She is part of a new and upcoming show called Sweet and Salty. Her co-star (who sure lives up to the "salty" part of the show) is Austin Nash. He was the most obnoxious character and was beyond happy when this unfortunate accident happened to Charlie. Right away, he thinks it's his ticket to securing the show for his own. However, Charlie had other tricks up her sleeve.

This is when she calls her twin, Cass, to enlist her help. Cass and Charlie are seemingly opposites at first. Charlie is the more confidant, assertive twin whereas Cass is more of a homebody and a little bit of a pushover. I should also add that Charlie moved away from their small hometown of Starlight Peak to L.A., while Cass stayed back running the family's well-loved bakery. Right after her accident (and after being seen by a very cute physician assistant, Miguel), Charlie calls Cass and asks her to swap places. Cass agrees (after some thinking). Cass loves their small town but it seems like it's become a little too small, what with her ex-boyfriend, Brett, not being able to take a hint that they are truly over.

This is when the true adventure begins. Cass flies out to L.A. and Charlie comes back home to Starlight Peak. They do have their moments where they slip up a little, almost giving their secret away, but they quickly recover. Each twin ends up falling in love with a man that the other twin knows. Cass ends up falling for Miguel, the cute physician assistant who saw Charlie once. And Charlie ends up falling for Jake, the ruggedly handsome firefighter who ends up being a little more complicated since Cass actually knows him pretty well.

The rest... well you'll just have to read it to find out! The ending was adorable and truly did feel a Hallmark movie. If you love Hallmark Christmas movies and cheesy romance, give this one a read! It's a light-hearted novel, perfect for the holiday season.

FINAL RATING: 3/5 stars

As for you bookworms, I wish you all a lovely holiday season! See you all in the new year!

Until next time,

xoxo
